Rental Policy

Please read this before your stay

Check-In and Check-Out: 

Check-in is 5:00 pm or later due to COVID enhanced cleaning protocols. Please do not arrive early unless previously arranged.

Check-out is before 10:00 am due to COVID enhanced cleaning protocols. Any unscheduled late check-outs will be charged $50 per hour. Upon your departure please ensure the following is done (to avoid incurring additional cleaning charges):

– place all soiled towels in bathtub or shower
– load and run dishwasher
– thoroughly wash, dry and put away any remaining dishes
– recycling and garbage is organized in the cottage
– property is locked up

Booking: To confirm your reservation, we require a deposit of 50% of the accommodation cost and a $25.00 (non-refundable) processing fee + 5% GST. Any remaining balance (including 3% Municipal Tax, 8% PST and 5% GST) must be paid 30 days prior to the arrival date. If you book within 30 days of your arrival the full cost of your accommodation is charged at the time of reservation. Reservations are non-transferable. We accept eTransfer, Visa or Mastercard. If booking through VRBO or AirBnB, please refer to VRBO or AirBnB websites for their payment and cancellation rules – they may be different.

Cancellation: 30 day cancellation policy October to May , and 60 day cancellation policy June through September. If you cancel your booking more than 30 or 60 days notice before arrival, depending on the date of your booking, you will receive a full refund less $100.00 + GST ($75.00 cancellation fee and $25.00 non-refundable processing fee). No refunds are available within 30 days of arrival October to May and 60 days of arrival for June to September.

Children: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage welcomes children (persons under 18). Please inform us how many children will be in your party. Tofino Hummingbird Cottage is not child proof. Please check, on arrival, for any hazards that may harm your child.

Maximum Guests: PLEASE NOTE: Only the number of guests, including children, listed in your reservation are permitted on the property and may stay overnight. Tents, campers, RVs or trailers are not permitted on the property. If more guests than permitted are at the cottage at any time, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation immediately and you will forfeit the entire cost of your accommodation. The number of occupants is strictly enforced by the District of Tofino.

Weddings, Groups & Gatherings: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. To ensure quiet enjoyment of neighbours, minimal wear and tear and address parking issues by the beach, the property shall not be occupied by more people than the capacity of Tofino Hummingbird Cottage, without prior written approval by the Owner.  No fraternities, school, civic, weddings, receptions, reunions or other non-family or large groups are allowed without prior written approval by the Owner. Guests may not assign or sublet Tofino Hummingbird Cottage.

Electric vehicle charging: EV CHARGING IS NOT AVAILABLE in/on the property. Attempting to charge a vehicle in an outlet in/on the home may endanger the property and occupants – RISK OF FIRE – (circuit is not rated for a continuous high amperage load). Please charge your vehicle at the EV charging station at Tofino Town Hall, 384 Campbell St.

Events Beyond Our Control: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage is not liable for events beyond our control, which may interfere with occupancy, including loss of the property by fire, flood, earthquake, tsunami, or other damage, changes of ownership, changes in the law, or seizure or other loss of the property. Beyond a refund of all payments made, Tofino Hummingbird Cottage assumes no responsibility or liability arising out of the property not being available or suitable.

Inclement Weather and Power Outages: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage does not offer refunds or transfer dates due to power outages or inclement weather.

 

During Your Stay

Amenities – Bed & Bath: good quality bed linens, bath towels, hand towels, facecloths, bath soap, bathtub and shower mats are provided. Please do not take towels and blankets to the beach. We do not provide beach towels.

Amenities – Kitchen: cookware, glassware, flatware and utensils, coffee maker, blender and toaster. Propane BBQ, and propane are provided. Dish cloths and dishtowels are provided as are paper towels, dish soap, dish washer detergent, and a starter supply of laundry detergent. A starter supply of coffee (regular), tea and sugar are included.

Parking: Three parking spaces are provided (parking for registered guests only).

Noise: Quiet Time is 10:00 pm through 8:00 am. Keep noise inside and to a minimum after 10 pm. If we receive a noise complaint from neighbors, we reserve the right to charge a Noise Fine to your credit card ($300 + GST).

Smoking: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage is strictly non-smoking. If you smoke inside the Cottage we reserve the right to charge a Smoking Fine to your credit card ($300 + GST).

Beach Gear: Please rinse all beach gear outside, including wetsuits and surfboards.

Commercial Activity: Do not use the property for any commercial activity or purpose that violates any criminal law or governmental regulation.

Cleaning & Excessive Cleaning: A cleaning fee of $295 + GST is charged per reservation. The cottage is cleaned and sanitized on departure. If additional cleaning is required, you will be charged $45 + GST for each additional hour.

Housekeeping: There is no housekeeping service during a stay. Housekeeping may be requested, with sufficient notice, at $45.00 + GST per hour.

Damage and Excessive Wear and Tear: The person making and paying for the accommodation is financially responsible for repairs arising from damage beyond normal wear and tear including carpet/floor stains, interior wall damage, appliance repairs arising from improper use, window and window covering damage, permanent linen stains, dry cleaning costs associated with stains, breakage, theft, and any other damage noted on departure incurred, sustained or brought by any person occupying or using the accommodation.

 

After Your Stay

Damage Deposit: We will hold a credit card number in lieu of a damage deposit. Any damage not reported to us, additional cleaning or larger damages like windows or TV screen, will be charged to the credit card on file. If any items are broken or damaged, kindly let us know so we can have items replaced for the next Guest’s arrival.

Lost & Found: We are not responsible for personal items left behind. We will notify you of items found during cleaning and hold them for 14 days. We can return them to you at via Canada Post at your expense. Items not claimed within 30 days will be disposed of at the discretion of Owner.

Limitation of liability: Tofino Hummingbird Cottage assumes no responsibility or liability for injury, loss or damage arising out of the use or occupation of the property.

 

You agree that by making a booking at Tofino Hummingbird Cottage, you are acknowledging that you have read, understand and will to abide by the policy described above.
